In 2006, Dr. Balaji Babu received his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (Hyderabad, Telangana, India), where he worked on the “Studies in the Synthesis of some 2- and 3-Heterylindoles”. From 2006-2007, worked as an Associate Scientist with GVK Biosciences, wherein he was involved in the synthesis of medicinally useful intermediates on a milligram to gram scale for a multinational company. During 2007-2008, he worked at Advinus Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., in the process R & D division wherein he was involved in the design and synthesis of API intermediates on a kilogram scale.
During 2009-2011, he worked as a Postdoctoral research associate at Hope College, Holland, MI, USA, wherein he was involved in the field of design and synthesis of small polyamides which are analogs of Distamycin and studied their interaction as DNA minor groove binding ligands by means of thermal melt, circular dichroism, isothermal titration calorimetry analyses. Apart from these he was also involved in the design and synthesis of naturally occurring Combretastatin and Duocarmycin analogs.
Worked as a Deputy Manager in Process R & D division (2011-2012) at Syngene International Pvt. Ltd., a group of Biocon companies, one of the most reputed biopharmaceutical companies in India, wherein his main responsibilities included route designing and synthesis of target molecules for outsourced projects on a multi kilogram scales. Apart from this, he was also involved in the preparation of quotations for holding short term business.
Currently working as a Research Scientist (Team Leader) at Sapala Organics Private Limited, and is involved in the custom synthesis of intermediates for outsourced projects and handling of FTE based assignments
